Vespera smiled once Yuchi informed her that she was around. “My memory worst than I remember it. It’s probably my age catching up with me. Mixed with that god awful medication I’m assigned to take I’m surprised at this point that I remember how my name is spelled.”
Slowly she set her cup down, refilling it with a quiet eagerness and lifting it to her lips once again, blowing at the surface softly to cool it down a bit. “But I hope to see you more when the meetings pick up again. This year I’m thinking of planning a big getaway for us.” The idea would take a lot of thinking and planning indeed. Though it seemed simple enough, to have all of the high ranking women gone at once somehow screamed out irreversible disaster to them. Not that the men weren’t capable of holding their own…but it would just make sensible planning to ensure that nothing did happen in the span of three days.

Yuchi immediately started assessing the various pros and cons of allowing the entire SWA out on a trip for the day; her logical mind presented her with at least five major problems in the first three seconds of thought.
And yet..
The woman in her longed to get away just for a short while, she had been nothing but data and experiments in her sleep and waking hours for so long that she almost couldn't remember how to do anything else. Even today when shock had robbed her of her defences she couldn't help analysing the situation to record later on...
"That might be nice," she said surpruising herself, a slow smile spreading over her plain features and making them unrecognisable.

It was a rare thing to see a smile on Yuchi’s face; even Vespera realized that with her age eroded memory, so it was nice to see such a pretty expression on her face. For a moment the woman just gave a small chuckle, smiling back at her and tapping the side of her tea cup.
“It should be nice.” There were so many more add ins for the plan, including any conflict that could have been going on in the real world with the humans, but for the time being she wanted to leave that aspect alone. Vespera could factor it in later when she really got into the planning phase, for now the idea was just some hope that was offered to cling to in order to make it through the days.
“Maybe you would like to pick our destination spot! Is there any place in the real world that you’re curious about seeing?” Vespera inquired with a grin on her face. “Paris, Rome, Hawaii maybe?”

Yuchi took a second to realise she had been smiling and quickly schooled her features once more into the neutral mask she always displayed, she wondered what was wrong with her that she would display her emotion so very openly twice in one day.
The nervous recluse in her desperately wanted to make her polite goodbyes and leave this tea house, get back to somewhere she found far more familiar - safe among the test tubes and datapads of a steralised laboratory. But something about Vespera fascinated Yuchi, fourth squad was about as far from twelfth as possible, one based around compassion and healing and the other interested only in advancement and data.
And yet.
The two squads were so similar in their use of kidou and the almost obsessional way the two squads worked, tirelessly and without breaking, was synonymous; she just couldn't figure out why she felt so drawn to talking to this woman, why she wanted to stay and...chat?
Chat? She so very rarely did something so non-productive.
"I've always wanted to see Northern Russia," she heard herself replying in a friendly tone of voice. "How about you?"
She wondered if her indecision and curiosity were showing in her eyes or face, after all she seemed to have so little control over her features today it was laughable.

“Northern Russia. That would definitely be a nice spot.” Vespera perked up when she gave an answer. She half expected Yuchi to maybe avoid the question or dismiss herself from the friendly conversation, but Vespera was glad that she stuck around. “I use to speak a bit of Russian. I was so interested in the language because it seemed so different. Do you speak any?”
Vespera took a moment to think about where she wanted to go, but that question never required much thought if she mentioned where she really wanted to travel to. “Everywhere really.” She admitted with a laugh, setting down her tea cup. “If the choice was left up to me, SWA would be gone for months doing a total tour of the real world. But if I had to choose a place, it would be between Germany and Australia.”
Her teapot was polished off quickly, but she didn’t go about refilling it. Her nerves were calm once again without the aid of her experimental pills and she was rather content with the last cup full she was on. “When I retire, that’s all I want to do. See the world, what’s out there to offer. I’ve been in Japan since my living days if what little of my memory of life serves me well.” Vespera sighed, looking over at Yuchi. “Do you ever think about you retirement?”

Retirement? The very notion seemed utterly absurd to Yuchi who couldn't comprehend any life but the one she was living now.
The sheer incomrehension must have shown through on her face as she tilted her head to think, trying to come up with some scenario where she might retire.
"I've never really thought about it," she said, rather lamely.

Vespera laughed at the sight of Yuchi’s reaction, wrinkling her nose. “Maybe it’s just me then.” She proclaimed with something of a sigh, though even she couldn’t be positive if it was discontented or a wishful noise. “I’ve been here for so long--I won’t bore you with my rambling, I can go for days.” The woman grinned, pausing for a drink. “But I am a bit exhausted, I’m sure you can relate to the feeling at times.”
She took a gaze at the other woman’s teapot. “Are you enjoying your tea?”

Yuchi nodded, a little taken aback by the abrupt shift in conversation, and looked down at the tea in question which she had barely touched.
She suddenly felt the need for something much stronger even though she knew she couldn't; in an instant she couldn't breathe and a dull roar sounded in her head - if she could think logically at that second she would realise it was the delayed shock of the day's events wearing off and finally hitting her.
She was trembling so violently she knocked the teacup off the table where it shattered with a tinkling noise, she looked down at it in horror and began to cry; great rolling teardrops that soaked her face and dripped to the table cloth.
"I'm so sorry..." she muttered, but she wasn't speaking of the shattered porceline

Hearing the shattering pieces of porceline, Homura rushed back into the tea house to see his Taichou in an agaitated state.
"What did you say to her!" the man all most shouted at the other taichou as he came to stand by Yuchi's side.
He did not care if his tone had no respect to it, all he knew was that she had done or said something to the one person he shared an friendship with and made that person upset.

The smashing of the glass surprised Vespera but it didn't show up on her features. The sound caught the attention of other patrons around them, bringing along their silent gazes.
"Everything's fine sweetheart." The captain said, raising her hand to get the attention of one of Sandri's workers to get the mess cleaned up. "It's all fine. It's just clay, it can be replaced."
Vespera wasn't dense enough to believe that she was crying about the broken glass, Yuchi began crying long before that. It had to be the events of the day catching up to her, if nothing else. That, or she hated the tea just that much, but the possibility of that being the problem was slim.
Digging into her kimono she pulled out her colorful handkerchief, passing it across the table to the other captain. A voice made its way into her ears, but Vespera gave it little immediate attention because of the tone.
"I'm sure it's just the day catching up with her. Or she hates the tea." Vespera replied slowly, not giving the male a glance.

Yuchi heard the familair tones of her lieutenant as though he were a million miles away; she looked at Vespera as she was handed a handkerchief and tried to focus on the kind words coming from her lips but all she could see was a mouth moving silently.
Unable to stop the tears that were by now pouring down her face she stooped to the floor before one of the workers got there and attempted to pick up the pieces of broken teacup herself; she was shaking so badly, however, that one of the shards cut a deep gash into her hand and spots of blood began falling to the floor.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry," was all she kept whispering.

Upon seeing the blood Homura snatched the hankerchief out of the other taichou's hand and placed it over Yuchi's wound.
"There is nothing for you to be sorry about." He muttered into her ear as he picked her up bridal style and carried her out of the tea house.

Yuchi felt herself scooped up into strong capable arms and there was nothing she wanted more than to allow herself to be carried away from all of this; but she had heard, however distantly, her lieutenant's reaction to Vespera and her own honour required her to apologise for that.
Struggling down she walked blankly back into the tea house, her limbs feeling numb and leaden as she bowed low to Vespera.
"Please forgive me lieutenant, he means no disrespect." Her words were flat and dull.

Vespera watched her drinking companion being lifted away with a raised brow, blinking in a bit of confusion along with her sister in law, who came herself to sweep up the fragments. They exchanged a look followed by unison shrugs before each of them went back to what they were doing. When Yuchi returned, Vespera had a warm smile for her.
“Please darling, I’m thinking nothing of him.” The woman assured. “You go home and get some rest and if you need anything in the world just send a butterfly.” She bowed her head, setting her tea cup down and standing up. “Even when you’re well and need nothing medical, I’m here for you. I hope you feel better soon.”
Vespera gave her salutations to Sandri before gliding out of the tea shop. She didn’t have to pull out her treasured pocket watch to know that she was running late for another date, and the later she was, the longer she had to stay in that god awful kimono that denied her a breath.
